Whistle in the Storm

So recently Jim Jinright went with his entire family  to Tulum, Mexico.  It was my wife’s brother who was getting married on a destination wedding package.  For those of you that have never participated in this type of wedding, it is a undeniable blast.  The trip just came up on us so fast that we barely had time to check the weather. I think it was right about the time we were leaving for the airport that we figured out something was out there in the ocean.

When we got there I noticed that all the ladies were asking the same question “where’s the sun?”   The answer is “Tropical Storm Ida” so the sun was still there but we just couldn’t see it because of the cloud cover.

Most of the guys were saying “where’s the bar?”  However, in the end, the entire group decided that the sun was inside of each of us.  We decided to whistle in the storm and to smile at everyone around us.

Then it happened, we figured out that happiness is a choice.  You see, we saw so many people that decided they were going to be miserable and their negative energy was going to make everybody else uncomfortable as well.  That’s everyone except us.  So there we were in Tulum, Mexico staying at the Dreams resort in the middle of a tropical storm and we made a conscious decision to be ecstatic about it!

So the more we started to smile at people, the more they started to smile back, and the more positive our words became the more positive people became with us.  It almost became a game we played with each other at first, but then we noticed that our energy was so positive that the rain stopped and at all the right moments the sun would come out.

It was a beautiful resort and better yet the wedding was the best.  The new married couple looked so good they should get featured in a bridal expo or syndicated in all the wedding magazines.  Collectively, our energy was very positive and that was by our design.  It would have been too easy to have sat there and gotten bummed out because of a little rain.

In the end, the sun shined on all of us, because we made the choice to be happy!
